Three arrested for armed robbery


Three black men were arrested for armed robbery Tuesday, March 11, at 1:10 a.m. at the Wildlife Public Boat Ramp.

They were trapped and caught in Wrightsville Beach due to overnight Heide Trask Drawbridge construction.

Wrightsville Beach Police believe the incident was a drug deal gone wrong.

Jaiqwan Lee Jones, 22, Isiah Andrew Stone, 23, and Robert Lee McGruder III, 23, were arrested for armed robbery and transported to New Hanover County Jail.

None of the men had weapons during the time of arrest. 

The victims, two 20-year-old white men who reported the incident, were Nathan Alexander Patton and David Sergey Nevstruyev. They said a wallet was stolen during the encounter, but no wallet was found on the arrested men.

Patton and Nevstruyev had a BB gun and large knife under the floorboard of their vehicle. 



Woman arrested for possession
of stolen vehicle


Susan Marion Hyland, 59, of East Hartford, Conn., was arrested on Sunday, March 9, at 12:09 p.m. for possession of a stolen vehicle and an outstanding order for arrest for failure to appear.

The white Explorer Hyland was driving was reported stolen in Wake County, N.C.

Hyland was transported to New Hanover County Jail and placed under a $1,000 bond for order for arrest and a $10,000 bond for possession of a stolen vehicle.
