All five candidates for the two open seats on the Wrightsville Beach Board of Aldermen and the unopposed mayor’s race will be present at a candidates’ forum hosted by the Wrightsville Beach Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday, Sept. 24.
To be held at the Blockade Runner Beach Resort beginning at 6 p.m., the forum will give Wrightsville Beach residents a chance to hear why each candidate is running as well as their responses to a series of submitted questions.
The board of aldermen candidates include past alderwoman Lisa Weeks, Wrightsville Beach Planning Board member Hank Miller III, Dr. Andy Hall and current Wrightsville Beach Mayor Pro Tem Bill Sisson. Bill Blair is running unopposed for mayor.
Chamber of commerce board member Sue Bulluck said the candidates’ opening statements would be no longer than three minutes, followed by a rotation of around 10 questions moderated by North Carolina Representative Rick Catlin, R-New Hanover. Following the first answer by a chosen candidate for each question, the other candidates will have a chance to say whether they agree or disagree with that first answer, Bulluck said.
At the end of the forum Bulluck said Catlin would provide an update on what to expect from the state legislature in the near future.
The forum is open to the public and Bulluck said residents could submit possible questions to her at firstname.lastname@example.org, fellow chamber of commerce board member John Andrews at email@example.com, or planning board member Ace Cofer at firstname.lastname@example.org
