The North Carolina Holiday Flotilla committee, which met on Jan. 28 to wrap-up the 2012 weekend event and restart the planning process for 2013, made an unexpected profit of $10,567 from additional revenues. In 2012, its 29th year, the flotilla also cut its expenses which totaled $112,547.

Treasurer Elaine Andrews said the big ticket was the Day in the Park, which brought in more than $7,000. And with more than $30,000 in the bank, including Tourism Development Authority funds, the group will get started with the fireworks contract and other items early on.
