The Wrightsville Beach Longboard Association has launched a new mentor program that partners a high school or college student with one of the club’s veteran members to learn about the task of running a nonprofit organization. The WBLA provides a diverse membership of professionals in athletics, business, medicine, law and education to mentor the selected students.
In the program, students will learn how to organize fundraisers and prepare events of all sizes using the annual events WBLA hosts throughout the year as a guide. During their work on these events the students will deal with challenges, goals and deadlines, as well as learning how to recruit sponsors and successfully market an event.
However, the program is not limited to these subjects and the students will have the freedom to use it to fit their own goals in education and in their prospective careers.
Enrollment in the mentor program will cost $10, which also includes membership to the WBLA for a year. For more information, visit www.wblasurf.org or email email@example.com
