After conducting in-person interviews with seven candidates for the town manager position vacated by Bob Simpson in October, the Wrightsville Beach Board of Aldermen unanimously agreed to repost the job opening until Dec. 10.
Wrightsville Beach Mayor David Cignotti said the board identified two of the seven candidates that stood out and are still under consideration, but that the board wanted to repost the job opening to the North Carolina League of Municipalities’ website.
“The board feels strongly that it is best not to rush this process and to make sure we find the person who will be the best fit for our community,” Cignotti stated in an email on Monday, Nov. 12.
The reposting will push the time frame for the hiring of the new town manger back 30 days, and Cignotti said the town hopes to have someone hired no later than the first week of January.
“Based on the notice that the new town manager would need to give his/her employer, they would be working by the first of March, possibly sooner,” Cignotti stated. — Cole Dittmer
